The Panamanian city of Chitre lies on the north eastern side of the Azuero penninsular, west of Panama City. One writer describes Chitre as being “Panama’s best kept secret.” The town center is adorned by a well kept public square and the beautiful church of John the Baptist.

Chitre is well supplied by many supermarkets, banks, restaurants and gas stations. Its local airport has regular, 30 minute flights to Panama City. The city is quite busy but five minutes from town rural life reigns supreme-be prepared for the odd bovine road-block. Chitre is most probably one of the last places to boast 2 TASTEE FREEZ ice cream parlours.
